how to trade

First of all you need to be clear on what your objectives are.
  • Are you an out and out gambler who chases their  losses?
  • Are  you looking to make a regular sum from the exchanges which can be withdrawn weekly?
  • Are you prepared to operate your betting as a business rather than a hobby?

If you are in the first category, then trading is not for you. If you agree with the 2nd two then i can help. Remember this is not a get rich quick operation, more a slowly slowly catchy monkey type of operation where you need  discipline not to vary the procedure

Trading the under/over 1.5 or 2.5 goals market pre match seems to have an edge when there is a decent spread between the prices.
Here is my strategy.

You will need 2 sites open
Betfair and Oddschecker

Open up the current days inplay football list on Betfair,  Open up Oddschecker, click on football

From the inplay list on Betfair select the next match yet to come in play and select the under/ over goals market.
If there is a wide spread then it is worth continuing to investigate, if there is only 1 or 2 clicks difference then ignore that particular match and look at the next one.

In Oddschecker we need to identify where the match is located, ie european or world and select the country to identify the particular match

An example

Thurs 8th March 2012 kick off 7pm Icelandic League Cup Throttur v Kr Reykjavik

Oddschecker have 4 bookmakers offering the 2.5 goal market,  over 2.5 best 1.42, worst 1.36
So if i could get 1.42 with an online layer then i would be prepared to lay similar myself.
Betfair have a spread of 1.41 - 1.49
With the current price of 1.49 being requested  to back i could possibly trade out with 6 ticks profit

I offer to lay £50 @ 1 42 and is matched with 5 different bets but the market is contracting so i can only put up a back of £49.40 @ 1 43 to green up. this is matched just prior to kick off

Also watch the outright win/draw/ win prices. If you can lay below what is available with an online bookmaker then offer and back at bigger price to green up
Simple strategy but needs discipline to avoid  taking chances and letting  bets run for more than a minute or two into play
Liquidity needs to be monitored, often only small amounts are matched prior to kick off so dont go too heavy
